Jean LaRosa
Graduate Student Intern, Therapist
We are not meant to go through hard things alone. I believe a lot of what we struggle with, like anxiety and relationship challenges, connects back to earlier life experiences. Just as those patterns formed in relationship, they can begin to shift in relationship, too.
I support adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma, as well as those struggling with self-worth or relationship challenges. I am especially drawn to working with people in the midst of life transitions or who are curious about how early life events may be shaping their present-day lives. I welcome people of all identities, backgrounds, and experiences. My goal is to create a space that feels affirming and inclusive, where you feel truly seen and understood.
My approach is relational, attachment-focused, and integrative. I incorporate elements of Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, and body-based approaches. In practice, this means we’ll pay attention to your relationships, your emotions, and the patterns that have helped you get through hard things, patterns that may have made sense at one point, but don’t feel like they’re working anymore. We can slow things down, get curious about those patterns, and begin to understand them with more compassion. We may also explore how your relationships, and the larger systems you’re part of, have shaped your experiences, while paying attention to how those experiences may be showing up in your body and nervous system. Over time, this can support a different kind of connection to yourself and to others.
My background includes supporting people through complex and challenging life situations, along with my own lived experience, which shapes how I show up in this work. I care about showing up in a way that is respectful, compassionate, and mindful of the impact we have on one another, and of the different experiences and identities people bring with them.
I am a masters level graduate student intern. I use she/her pronouns, I am married and a parent of two young adults. Outside of therapy, I enjoy reading memoirs, sharing meals with people I love, and hiking whenever I get the chance. I also like listening to records and walking with my perfect Maltipoo, who adds humor to my day.
